This is more important when studies have argued that the accelerated growth of urbanisation in African countries in recent decades could cause diverse environmental problems, including transport and industrial pollution that may be associated with local climate change, and the consequent effect on health. This study investigated the physiologic climate of Nigeria and applied a geographical information technique that made it possible to produce better maps than what were presented in previous studies, and with higher accuracy.

Oyenike Mary hails from Idoani in Ondo State, Nigeria. She holds B.Sc. (ed), M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Geography of the Obafemi Awolowo University (Adeyemi College) and University of Ibadan, Nigeria. She lectures at the Adekunle Ajasin University, Ondo State. She is married with children.
