The proceedings of the 4th Stability and Control Processes Conference are focused on modern applied mathematics, stability theory, and control processes. The conference was held in recognition of the 90th birthday of Professor Vladimir Ivanovich Zubov (1930-2000).

This selection of papers reflects the wide-ranging nature of V. I. Zubov's work, which included contributions to the development of the qualitative theory of differential equations, the theory of rigid body motion, optimal control theory, and the theory of electromagnetic fields. It helps to advance many aspects of the theory of control systems, including questions of motion stability, nonlinear oscillations in control systems, navigation and reliability of control devices, vibration theory, and quantization of orbits. The disparate applications covered by the book - in mechanical systems, game theory, solid-state physics, socio-economic systems and medical and biological systems, control automata and navigation - are developments from Professor Zubov's in-depth studies on the theory of stability of motion, the theory of automatic control and the theory of the motions of optimal processes.

Stability and Control Processes presents research continuing the legacy of V. I. Zubov and updates it with sections focused on intelligence-based control. These proceedings will be of interest to academics, professionals working in industry and researchers alike.

Autorenporträt
Dr Nikolay Smirnov is head of the Department of Mathematical Modelling of Economical Systems in the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes of Saint Petersburg State University. He received his doctorate in 2006. He specializes in mathematical control theory and system analysis. Dr Smirnov works in the area of control processes modeling in different applications: control of technical objects, analysis of stability and stabilization of dynamic systems, constructing of controlled dynamic models of macroeconomic systems, development of applied methodology for control processes modeling in social-economic systems. He has published more than 80 research papers, and has won several grant programs of the Government of Russian Federation. One of these research project resulted in four scientific patents being registered. Since 2003, Dr Smirnov has been the head of the committee of annual international conference on Control Processes and Stability (CPS) at SaintPetersburg State University. Dr Anna Golovkina is an associate professor of the Department of Control Systems Theory for Electrophysical Facilities in the Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Control Processes of Saint Petersburg State University. She received her PhD in 2016, and received several scholarships throughout her studies. She specializes in mathematical modeling, optimal control theory and optimization methods. She has published over 40 research papers, five scientific patents, and one book. She is a member of the Institute for Systems and Technologies of Information, Control and Communication, the International Society of Difference Equations and the Heidelberg Laureate Forum Alumni. Dr Golovkina has been involved in the organisation of several conferences, including the 16th International Workshop on Beam Dynamics & Optimization (BDO) (2010), the International Conference on Emission Electronics and the 9th and 10th International Conference on Simulation and Modeling Methodologies, Technologies and Applications.
