Strontium aluminate systems (Bandgap 6.5eV) are versatile phosphor hosts. They are capable of producing luminescence in different regions of e.m.spectrum. Properly prepared, well crystallized Sr -Al-O phosphors are chemically more stable and are set to replace traditional IIA- VIB compounds (ZnS, ZnSe,CdS, CdSe,etc.)in various potential applications like in optoelectronic devices, dosimetry, solid-state lighting, quantum cutting applications etc. Strontium aluminate phosphors can have various crystalline phases like Sr3Al2O6, SrAl2O4, Sr4Al14O25, SrAl4O7, SrAl12O19,etc. with different crystal…mehr

Strontium aluminate phosphors can have various crystalline phases like Sr3Al2O6, SrAl2O4, Sr4Al14O25, SrAl4O7, SrAl12O19,etc. with different crystal structures and are full of opportunities for phosphor engineers.Present work deals with synthesis of different Sr-Al-O phosphors via economical, time saving, single step combustion procedure followed by studies on their complex luminescence processes using spectroscopic techniques. The defect dynamics is studied using ESR and thermally stimulated lumienscence techniques. The present work is suitable for young researchers', inorganic material scientists working in the interesting field of luminescent materials.
