In the present investigation mean flow parameters of 50mm diameter circular swirling jet and pipe swirling jet are measured with 3-hole wedge shaped yaw meter. In this experiment three nozzles and three pipes are used and these are for free jet, for 30 degree swirl jet, for 45 degree swirl jet, for pipe jet, for pipe jet with 30 degree swirl and for pipe jet with 45 degree swirl. All the nozzles have the same profile and the same exit diameter, similarly all pipes have the same profile and same exit diameter and they are made by 3-D printing using PLA material. Experiment is carried out with Reynolds number 0.75e5 and 1.125e5 respectively based on nozzle exit diameter and centerline exit velocity. In the measurement mean axial velocity and the direction of the mean velocity are investigated. Due to the presence of swirl the saddle shape behavior of the free jet at its exit is not found. The swirl generates a centrifugal force on the main flow field which causes the flow to disperse outward and the jet is decayed and diffuses much earlier than the free jet. The peripheral velocities are found to deflect the flow in the outward direction.
