With the introduction of synthetic polymers in the industry, cosmetic hair fixing products have undergone an improvement in their quality, reliability and appearance. The hair fixatives were developed with the purpose of helping to modify the shape of the hair, allowing the control of hairstyles, providing shine and preserving the movement of the hair. The Hair Sprays stand out in the market because they are presented in aerosol form, which facilitates their application. Polymers are the most important components present in the formulations of these products as they allow hair to keep its shape and movement, protecting the hair from environmental conditions such as wind, humidity, cold and heat. Aiming at the constant development of the cosmetic market, the present work has as main objective to review the main synthetic polymers used in market formulations of hair sprays. The project was conducted based on bibliographic research from scientific articles available in electronic databases and magazines specialized in the cosmetics industry, being possible to contextualize the evolution of polymeric raw materials in hair sprays.
