The exploitation of traditional crops, which often are grown with low inputs, and are largely adapted to the climatic conditions of the developing countries, would be a step towards better resource utilization. Available literature from research on sweet potato focused more on tuber yields with little or no attention paid to foliage yield and quality. Unfortunately, Information about feeding value, extent and evolution of feeding practices of vine as a feed source is not much known due to lack of knowledge about the crop, and its use for animal feed. Furthermore, information on supplementation of livestock diets with sweet potato vines in Ethiopia is not sufficient. Therefore, the current study was designed to evaluate the effect of substituting sweet potato vines with concentrate mix at increasing levels on feed intake, growth performance and carcass traits of Sidama goats.
