Masataka Yoshimura has almost four decades of experience in the design and analysis of industrial machines, in research concerning the optimization of manufacturing systems, and in research and development of system optimization methods. He is a professor at Kyoto University, Japan, where he received his doctorate in engineering. In 2007 he was made a fellow of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering and received the society's Achievement Award.
