The book is devoted to such problems of text interpretation as typology of texts, text categories, the cultural perspective of a literary text and its decoding. The book consists of three parts dealing with types of texts, literary text categories and the procedure of lingua-cultural analysis of a literary text. Text typology is based on the analysis of such types of information represented in the text as cognitive, emotional, and aesthetic, and the study of their compression. It helps to identify the text type. Such text categories as divisibility, cohesion, space and time, modality can be helpful in disclosing the deep underlying meaning in a literary text. The cultural perspective of a literary text is studied through the associations of the text title and the linguistic means of the vertical context, a type of non-linguistic context of a literary text. Theoretical information is supplied with Practice Sections aimed at developing the skills of text interpretation.
