The Jade Chaplet, In Twenty-Four Beads: A Collection Of Songs, Ballads, Etc., From The Chinese is a book written by George Carter Stent and published in 1874. The book is a compilation of various Chinese songs, ballads, and other literary works translated into English. The title of the book refers to the 24 beads of a traditional Chinese jade chaplet, which symbolize the 24 chapters or sections of the book. The book contains a wide range of literary works, including love songs, folk tales, and poems. The works are arranged thematically, with each section focusing on a particular topic, such as love, nature, and history. The translations are accompanied by notes and explanations to help readers understand the cultural and historical context of the works. The Jade Chaplet, In Twenty-Four Beads is an important work in the history of Chinese literature in English translation. It was one of the first books to introduce Western readers to the rich literary tradition of China, and it helped to popularize Chinese literature in the English-speaking world. The book remains a valuable resource for scholars and students of Chinese literature and culture, as well as for anyone interested in exploring the beauty and complexity of Chinese poetry and prose. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
