The present work analyses in detail Newton's concepts of "absolute" space, time and motion, as well as presenting a description of the method used in the elaboration of Newtonian Physics, more precisely, in the confection of the Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy. It is also argued that these concepts of "absolute" space, time and motion would have as origin the controversy between Cartesians and Newtonians about the fundamentals of Natural Philosophy. Finally, it is shown that these concepts came to serve as a basis for the Newtonian definition of forces and laws of motion.
