He argued that species evolve gradually, with the best-adapted organisms more likely to survive and reproduce. This idea challenged traditional views and sparked intense debate, yet it provided a new framework for understanding life's diversity.Though controversial at first, Darwin's theory of natural selection eventually gained acceptance, transforming biological science. His contributions continued with later works like The Descent of Man. Darwin passed away in 1882 and was honored with burial in Westminster Abbey, leaving a legacy that remains central to modern biology.
