We also tend to have intuitive knowledge about people and places that can be truly helpful-if we listen! On the other hand, we usually absorb far too much energy from those around us and can easily feel overwhelmed, to say the least. With sensitive souls, our brains are hardwired differently. When people ask me what it feels like to be an empath, I can only explain it as being "wide open all the time". I know that being a highly sensitive person can often feel like a curse and more stress than it's worth. Once you learn to protect and strengthen yourself inside and out, I'm hoping that you'll see what a wonderful gift it is to be an empath. Sensitives make some of the best psychics, artists, musicians, writers, counselors, friends, and parents, as well as other roles where compassion and deep feeling are helpful. We see the world in ways others can't, and we experience life at an unmatched level. In this book, I want to show you that you're unique-not crazy or neurotic-and that with practice you can feel far less overwhelmed. In my practice, I've seen clients who spent years as anxiety-ridden introverts come to understand and work with their empathy. In doing so, they've become stronger, calmer, more outgoing, and far happier. I want this for you too!
