The present work of investigation has the purpose of analyzing the historical development of the uprising of the leader Pedro Vilcapaza Alarcón in the province of Azángaro: 1780 - 1782, who was the most important revolutionary character of the Puno highlands that was characterized by fighting in bloody battles against the oppression of the Spaniards. In this way, by means of the documentary revision and the analysis of the content, it can be determined that the extraordinary time of his death, his glory and the yearning for emancipation in the southern regions, made him one of the most representative cadillos of the indigenous land. Thus, Azángaro turned out to be headquarters of the rebellion of one of the most important historical events of the colonial time, region that offered to its people masses determined to fight for the freedom and of offering caudillos worthy of the immortality.
