Catherine Rains is a mum of three young children, a dog trainer, and a breeder of Working Kelpies on a farm in rural New South Wales, Australia. She has been dabbling in writing poetry since childhood, and believes that Minky's story could be inspiring for children who might need some help to develop their own talent and skills. As a self-described "non-artist", Catherine decided to illustrate her book herself, showing that even adults can do anything with a little bit of self-belief and persistence.
