If anyone ever says that life is simple, they're lying. Time, Change, and Other Things That Don't Fit Into Boxes, is an honest look at the messy, the complex, the bittersweet. If anyone ever says that life is simple, they're lying. Time, Change, and Other Things That Don't Fit Into Boxes, is an honest look at the messy, the complex, the bittersweet. It's a reflective exploration of the gray areas of life - time, change, love, loss, uncertainty. In this collection, Kardon highlights the things bubbling beneath the surface that we aren't always sure what to do with. They don't really fit here, they don't really fit there - all we know is that their existence affirms that we are living. And despite the inherent ache that often accompanies these enigmatic entities, they have a way of making life beautiful in all of their complexity and confusion. Some things are just too tender, too precious, too passion-filled to be packed away into boxes, and they're surely too stubborn to give up making themselves known. Because the human experience isn't one fit for boxes. So, try as we might to keep things neat, orderly, and contained, the stuff that really gives life meaning will always be anything but. Time, Change, and Other Things That Don't Fit Into Boxes is a collection of poems and prose that speaks to the multifaceted and transient nature of life. It sheds light on the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that shape different seasons of our ever-changing existence, and ultimately, imprint us forever. About the Author¿¿Shelby Kardon is based in Northern Virginia where she has published two collections of poetry. All her life, she never thought she would ever describe herself with the title of poet, author, or writer, but she's come to expect the unexpected. She truly believes something magical happens when you transform emotions and experiences into art that could mean something to someone else. She'd scream it from the rooftops if she could, that she deeply wishes the world was defined by less boxes and more overlapping spheres. Nostalgia is her Achilles' heel. It gets her every time. She wholeheartedly believes that music, dancing, laughing, and hugs from the right people are the remedies for most things that ail us. She's learning that living a life is less of arriving at a destination and more of a never-ending journey with a lot of bumps in the road. She's working on making peace with the difficult things, the things that are hard to swallow. It, like her, like most things, is a work in progress. Her first poetry collection, Mosaic, is available in print and eBook on Amazon.
