Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the major production constraints of solanaceous crops. So far there is no technology that renders complete control of the disease. However, effective management of the disease is the only way out, at least for now. The book is prepared with a major objective of presenting a comprehensive work on bacterial wilt pathogen, Ralstonia solanacearum and its management. Accordingly, detailed review of the researches done on the pathogen and its management is addressed, and meticulous report of an integrated research conducted by the author, which involved biological containment of the pathogen in potato and host resistance in tomato, is also presented. Methodological approaches and result of in-depth characterization of both the pathogen and the antagonistic strains based on cultural, biochemical, and physiological tests are also reported. Besides, method for easy-identification of the pathogen to the level of race and biovar without the need to opt for molecular tools, is included. The book is intended for graduate students, academicians, and both beginner and advanced researchers in the area of Agricultural Microbiology.
