iPad-based mobile learning (M-learning) has become a popular topic in educational research, and there is currently a lack of engineering talent in the UK. This case study aims to contribute to the currently sparse area of research combining iPad use with engineering education. To achieve this, the study investigates the integration of iPad-based M-learning into a creative engineering module in a secondary school in England with a problem-based learning pedagogy. This study found that iPad-based M-learning is compatible with the problem-based learning pedagogy underpinning the creative engineering module, both philosophically and practically, inside and outside of class. The integration of the iPad with problem-based CE pedagogy sets up a new M-learning pedagogy model.
