Michael M. Cernea is former World Bank Senior Advisor for Social Policies and Sociology, Honorary Professor of Social Development and Resettlement at Hohai University, China, Emeritus Professor of Three Gorges University, China, Elected Member of Academia Romana, Recipient of the American Anthropological Association Solon Kimball Award for the cause of 'Putting People First', of the Society for Applied Anthropology Bronislaw Malinowski Prize, and of the Society of Romania's Sociologists Omnia Opera Award. Julie K. Maldonado is Director of Research for the Livelihoods Knowledge Exchange Network (LiKEN), Lecturer in the Environmental Studies Program at the University of California-Santa Barbara, USA, works with the Institute for Tribal Environmental Professionals, and co-facilitates Rising Voices: Collaborative Science with Indigenous Knowledge for Climate Solutions.
