In the vast expanse of the Arizona Territory in the late 1800s, Tallulah Johnson's mixed Navajo heritage was both a source of pride, and a heavy burden to bear. Born on the sacred lands of the Navajo Nation, she possessed an unbreakable spirit that yearned for knowledge and self-actualization beyond the boundries of her birthplace. Fueled by an insatiable thirst for education, she decided to leave for the bustling metropolis of New York City. There, she defied social conventions and became one of the first nurses of mixed heritage, blazing a trail for those who would follow in her footsteps. However, a yearning for peace and solace eluded her in the East. Daring to tred the unconventional path, she turned to a marriage broker for help in finding someone back in the east, to help her find her roots and embrace her roots, while pursuing new challenges. Her path intersects with Jack Ballard, a rugged and hardworking rancher whose dreams appeared to mesh with her own. She sets off on the train for the adventure of a lifetime.
