Shevchenko's creativity became the spiritual basis of the formation of the modern Ukrainian nation, a source of national and political consciousness, and the poet himself became a symbol of Ukraine. Shevchenko was both a profound lyricist and the creator of epic poems, and an outstanding playwright and versatile artist. He is considered the founder of new Ukrainian literature. Shevchenko was the first in Ukrainian literature to act as a truly folk poet, whose works more meaningfully reflected the feelings and thoughts of the working masses and their age-old aspirations for freedom. In his works, he created a new positive image - a fighter and judge against the autocratic-landlord system and a fighter for the happiness of the people. In addition, Shevchenko played an important historical role in the development of the Ukrainian literary language, he established its structure, which became the basis of the modern language - he developed and approved a certain composition of the dictionary and grammatical system (including syntax), which became the norm and model for writers, press, theater, etc. His poetry provided the norms of the Ukrainian literary language, created on the basis of folk folklore and living spoken language, which was based on the Poltava-Kyiv dialect.
