The first to combine all aspects of singular optics and to give a detailed view of the subject, Singularities in Physics and Engineering gives a thorough introduction to singularities and their development. It explains, in detail, important topics such as the types of singularities, their properties, detection and application, and emerging research trends. The book concentrates on phase singularities in a comprehensive development to allow a greater understanding of singularities throughout the chapters and it discusses polarization singularities in-depth in its final chapter.

With new advances being generated continuously, the vibrant field of optics is covered to give an essential foundation for all students and researchers interested in singular optics. This book is a cornerstone for an increased insight to the subject and its development. It is aimed at graduate students, those wanting to expand their research area, or those who would like to learn more about the subject of singularities. The text is also useful to beginners in the field as it outlines the basics of singularities and enables the reader to conceive ideas of their own as they progress through the book.
