Michael McGee, M.D., is a psychiatrist and chief medical officer at The Haven, a facility specializing in the treatment of addiction, near San Luis Obispo, California. Dr. McGee graduated from Stanford University with a bachelor's degree in biology; he continued his education at Stanford University School of Medicine and completed his residency training in psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, where he also completed a chief residency in inpatient psychiatry. Dr. McGee has extensive experience in addiction treatment, geriatric psychiatry, medical psychiatry, and general adult psychiatry. From his office in California, he also treats patients living remotely through online videoconferencing. In addition to numerous publications and presentations, Dr. McGee is also the author of the award-winning The Joy of Recovery: The New 12-Step Guide to Recovery from Addiction.
