In this book the design procedure of single cylinder crankshaft has been studied analytically and stresses at critical parts were compared by Finite Element Analysis results. The dimensions of crankshaft were found by analytical calculations and the design was checked for various stresses. The crankshaft was modeled in PRO/E software using the calculated dimensions and was imported to ANSYS for FEA. FEA is a good tool for design analysis and avoid laborious time consuming analytical calculations. Thereafter design optimization has been done to reduce the cost and weight of the crankshaft.

Rohit Tamrakar ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca in Ingegneria meccanica presso il Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology di Bhopal. La sua area di interesse comprende la progettazione di macchine, il FEM e l'analisi delle vibrazioni. In questo libro ha progettato analiticamente un albero a gomito monocilindrico ed eseguito l'analisi delle sollecitazioni e l'ottimizzazione utilizzando il software ANSYS.
