In chapter 13, he humbly yielded to Lot and gave him first choice of the land. When Lot chose the most fertile land and then was taken captive, Abram didn't say, "It serves him right!" He boldly went and rescued Lot. Then he humbly bowed before Melchizedek but boldly resisted the king of Sodom's offer. He knew when to be bold and when to yield.1.
