Linear programming technique is relevant in optimization of resource allocation and achieving efficiency in production planning particularly in achieving increased agricultural productivity. The information given in this book is based on the study aimed at planning of crop production pattern for the small and marginal farm holders of Patan district of Gujarat state of India so as to fulfill the minimum food and economical requirements either by maximizing production or enhancing profitability using linear programming model. A crop production planning scheme was formulated as a linear programming problem and solved for major crops using LINDO software. Among the different methods, weavers method of minimum deviation was used to get the best crop combinations. The study concluded that combination of crop appropriately as suggested in the study contributed in improving the gross returns to the farmers of Patan district of Gujarat State.
