To date, the USAF has focused its retention improvement efforts on reducing personnel tempo and improving compensation. The effectiveness of these quality of life initiatives is difficult to quantify, but data indicate it may be less than desired. Despite United States (U.S.) Navy and USAF studies that point to various aspects of organizational climate as sources of dissatisfaction among their respective members, the USAF apparently has not attempted to improve organizational climate in an effort to improve retention.
