Synchronous with the growth of population and climate change in the recent years in Iran, an increment in water demand has also occurred in different sectors, although consumption patterns have not changed in the different segments, but the agricultural, domestic and industrial sectors have the highest water consumption in the country. Policies concerning water resources in Iran are interdisciplinary issues which are absolutely specialized, requiring several professionals with varied skills. Furthermore, water resource policies, should be extended regionally and be principled on the level of development, existing infrastructure, as well as, be formulated on the qualitative and quantitative characteristics of water resources. An approach to water resource policies in Iran, which also has been referred to in this book, is a completely comprehensive tactic, based on pressure management. It aims at controlling the pressure factors on water resources currently and is also coupled withappropriate and precise programming, in concern with the restoration of water resources, on a long-term basis.
